SNIP 18: Staking’s First Stage on Starknet

@NatanSW So do I get it right, that initially there won’t be a way to link your node to your operator address on-chain? Node operators just stake 20K+ STRK in the staking contract and submit their info to staking dashboard providers. And you would have to take operator’s word for it that they are actually running a node?

Regarding this statement: “In the future, as part of Starknet’s Consensus protocol, Stakers will be responsible for maintaining and securing the network by producing, attesting, and proving blocks. However, it’s not feasible to hand over these responsibilities all in one day”

Is this referring to mainnet? Currently on Sepolia testnet is it possible to get your validator node attesting and/or proving blocks yet? Or is this still currently not active on the testnet?

The short answer is yes but.
The “but” is split into 2 things. The first is a social consensus layer that we require, and all of the community requires them to do so. This is evident in the amount of full nodes integration questions we receive from new teams.
The second is that they do not trust them as the next stages that would follow would mandate them to run software to get rewards. So, for Validators, it doesn’t really make sense to join a network, having all the integration pains and not plan ahead, i.e. run a full node.

It is still not active on testnet

My handle and logo has been added on voyager. Is the Karnot form to be listed on Starkscan? Are any Sepolia validator profiles listed on Starkscan yet?

So the validating duties will eventually be tested on Sepolia first? So it makes sense to keep our testnet servers running for some time?

And as far as hardware requirements for main net, i guess these aren’t really known yet for validators? I imagine the proving and attesting would require more processing power than simply running a node?

AFAIK, Starkscan don’t support staking data. I will ask the team if they plan to.

You are correct that the hardware requirements for the future of the network are not yet known. In that regard, STWO (our new prover) would be a game changer in reducing them, but still unknown.
We will of course, when we will have more clarity, share the inforamtion.

Hi @NatanSW , will the featuer be implemented within the first stage?

No, only on a later stage

Does that staking contract exist yet for main net? And have any validators staked their 20 000 there yet?

not yet, work in progress

until 26th of November

about 4 days left, can’t wait

Where will official communications take place on Wednesday for the staking launch for validators?

Will Discord, Telegram or this forum be the main comms for validator staking?

There is a channel about this on discorda if you want to ask there
