Remove LBTC from Starknet staking-reward eligibility

Summary

The Monetary Council intends to remove LBTC from the set of wrappers eligible for Starknet staking rewards.

This action is specific to LBTC. It does not affect WBTC, SolvBTC, tBTC, or strkBTC.

A 7-day comment period applies before any on-chain change is executed.

Rationale

After review of LBTC’s footprint on Starknet, the Council has concluded that continued staking-reward eligibility for LBTC is not justified at current levels of adoption and ecosystem integration.

This reflects LBTC’s specific position on Starknet today and is not a comment on LBTC as an asset elsewhere.

What changes, and what does not

Changes:

  • Following the comment period, the Monetary Council will sign the on-chain transaction removing LBTC from the set of wrappers eligible for staking rewards.

Does not change:

  • LBTC remains transferable on Starknet. The wrapper contract is unchanged.

  • LBTC remains usable in DeFi protocols that choose to support it.

  • WBTC, SolvBTC, tBTC, and strkBTC are not affected.

Coordination with Endur (xLBTC holders)

A portion of staked LBTC has been deposited into Endur to mint xLBTC. The Foundation has been in direct contact with Endur on the operational implications.

The on-chain disable transaction will not be executed until Endur and its xLBTC holders have a clear wind-down path. Endur will publish a dedicated communication to xLBTC holders with specific guidance and timing.

What current LBTC and xLBTC holders should know

  • You have at least 7 days from this post before any on-chain change is executed.

  • Endur will publish specific xLBTC guidance within the comment period.

  • Existing staked LBTC positions are not force-unstaked. Positions remain on-chain after execution but stop accruing staking rewards from the execution date forward. Holders can unstake at their discretion, before or after execution.

  • After unstaking, holders may continue holding LBTC or redeem and bridge it through Lombard’s standard channels.

  • The LBTC token contract and your ability to transfer LBTC on Starknet are not affected.

Comments and feedback

We invite community comments on this thread. We are particularly interested in:

  • Information about LBTC use cases on Starknet that could materially change the analysis.

  • Feedback from xLBTC holders on the Endur wind-down path.

We will respond to material questions in the thread and update this post if substantive new information emerges before execution.
