Starkware is launching a research initiative focused on deepening our understanding of DeFi trading activity on Starknet. As the ecosystem grows, we want to study how traders interact with protocols, how liquidity behaves in practice, and how users experience the network end-to-end.
This initiative is exploratory in nature and focused purely on learning. It is not intended to generate returns.
What We’re Doing
As part of this effort, we will:

Operate small, controlled trading and yield-related bots to observe execution quality, latency, composability, and liquidity.

Study the developer and trader experience across wallets, DEXs, lending protocols, data providers, bridging flows, and tooling.

Gather feedback from a small group of external traders (“Starknet Trading Guild”) to gather practical feedback from active DeFi users.

Document insights and opportunities that can help improve the Starknet developer and user experience.
This work is strictly research-focused and limited in scope.
What Comes Next
We will share high-level insights as the initiative progresses, highlighting areas where enhanced tooling, infrastructure, or developer resources could strengthen DeFi activity on Starknet.
Our objective is simple:
to gain a deeper, hands-on understanding of DeFi activity so we can continue improving Starknet for builders, traders, and users.
