On-chain metrics like transactions, holding periods, etc. are generally better indicators of genuine participation than off-chain criteria.
At the same time, some balancing criteria may help filter out bots/sybils while still being inclusive. Things like NFT quest participation could work.
KYC/identity verification raises valid privacy/censorship concerns. However, fully anonymous distributions open the door to abuse. Finding the right balance is challenging.
Any distribution will inherently exclude some participants. The goal should be maximizing inclusion of genuine users while minimizing opportunities for abuse. There may be no perfect solution.
Are you now saying that everyone that used starkgate did that because they were expecting an airdrop? if you check the tokenomics again you can see one 9% and another 8.3% for community!
I donāt think the crypto world is ready yet.
Itās totally frightened by so-called sybil.
More than 700 million people remain in absolute poverty.
But we define what a sybil is from an elitist perspective.
BTC has also been below $1 before
Just imagine, Haitiās crypto newcomers mustered up the courage to participate in emerging experiments
Then on the day of the airdrop, he was told that your amount was too small (you were too poor)
There are a lot of people here talking about sybils. But Iām wondering whether a real user will use a network that can release an update at any time, and if you donāt have time to update, your money will be lost. I think most people online are degens.
Starknet still has a large number of problems of this type - long transactions, errors (nonceā¦), you cannot use a seed phrase from one wallet to another. Yes, we all know about the upcoming network updates. I hope they make the network easier for the average user. So far I donāt see any good landing protocols or NFT platforms.
Looking forward to soon updates!
Absolutely ⦠I think number of smart contracts , protocols interacted with and liquidity provision on the starknet network should also be a part of the criteria for airdrop allocation ā¦
I like the proposal.
However, there are so many chains that people can participate. And most of people are not whales.
Asset will only stay at where the protocol is the best. (better profit / interesting projects)
I am not sure if nowadays there is any supreme project in StarkNet, it is true.
Anyways, I will still support this thought but probably to use it as the certain weight of criteria.
The Starknet network will help participants with a small bank to use the blockchain to the fullest, since often people simply do not have enough money to pay for gas in the main Ethereum network. And if you provide airdrops to those who make a lot of transactions on the main network, then you make the rich even richer, which, in my opinion, is completely wrong.
Quite agree, at the very least going back to the earliest people who used the staknet network, which was the earliest group of users. Some weight could be considered
I think these ways can distribute sybil from the really users. Because the real users spent a lot of time and money to interact with many smart contracts and protocols. They are truely contributors and advocators for Starknet.
The stricter the criteria of weeding out sybil, the more beneficial for real users. Actually sybil disturb the rule of contributing Starknet. They take little time and can get rewards like real users. Itās not fair. Why Starknet can get such a success. In some extent, it can be owned to active users. They are faithful users and advocators even though during bear market.
I also agree with your opinion that airdrops should be prioritized for those who interact with the StarkNet network, rather than those who simply donate/vote/stake/hold tokens in other networks. By rewarding users who are actively using StarkNet, you can help to bootstrap the network and encourage further adoption.
Well this proposal seem somewhat near Okay in my opinion, but you have actually left out the real folks who lay the foundation for what Starkware built now, DYDX and the likes users.
However if I make ask, is the eligibility/requirements for any airdrop open for discussion like this? I thought any eligibility for airdrop(s) should be in the purview of the the Project Foundation. Since itās the first airdrop before the constitution of a DAO, Foundation should have a complete hand on this base on data that should be favourable to Starkware a whole.
These are normal criteria, for example, I am a real user, without any additional accounts, but I learned about starknet not so long ago and there are a lot of them, I think, so the early user criterion is not a super best idea, but on the other hand, who joined initially should not be forgotten either
In a bid to filter out āsybilā judging with the above metrics you put outā¦lots of genuine users will be filtered out because professional sybil are extremely smart.
This is a difficult choice, but I think it is more appropriate to refer to arbās plan, and to widen the gap between grades as much as possible and add more conditions. History has shown more than once that universal celebration is more important for the journey after the project!
